Obituary

Lombardo, Anthony, age 83, suddenly passed away on May 21, 2012. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Anthony moved to Long Island and lived in Massapequa, NY for 37 years. After retirement, he moved to Ft. Myers, Florida. Anthony graduated from New York University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and was a member of the Alpha Phi Delta Fraternity. Later, he attended Brown University and graduated with a Masters degree in Biochemistry. Anthony briefly taught in Cornwall, New York, but spent the majority of his professional career as a Chemistry teacher at Baldwin High School, Baldwin, New York. At Baldwin, Anthony developed the Advanced Placement Chemistry Program. He served as President of the Baldwin Teachers’ Union for twelve years and Advisor to both the General Organization and Chess Club. He was an ardent advocate for teachers’ rights. Later, he served as President of the Democratic Club of Ft. Myers for ten years and remained active with the Democratic Party. Anthony is survived by his former wife, Liela Lombardo, his daughters, Lila Jividen and Leslie Wiesenfeld, his son-in-law Andy Wiesenfeld and his grandchildren, Lila, Maria, Angela, Nicole and Joshua. Anthony is deeply loved and missed by his family and friends and will remain in their hearts and lives forever! Funeral Services held on May 28, 2012 from 10:00am-1:00pm, 2:00-5:00pm and 6:00-9:00pm at Volk Leber Funeral Home, 268 Kinderkamack Rd., Oradell, NJ. Mass held on May 29, 2012 at 9:30am at St. Peter’s The Apostle Church, 445 Fifth Avenue, River Edge, NJ with interment following at St. John Cemetery, 8001 Metropolitan Ave., Middle Village (Queens), NY
