Obituary

Daniel P. O’Keefe, 90, of Worcester, died Sunday, May 13th in the Jewish Health Care Center. His wife of 42 years, Mary F. (Cassidy) O’Keefe died in 1992. He leaves his son, Thomas P. O’Keefe and his wife, Palma of Holden; his two daughters, Mary Ann O’Keefe Burton of Phoenixville, PA and Ellen K. Van Dam and her husband, E. Jeffrey of Chantilly, VA; a brother, Robert J. O’Keefe of Worcester; five grandchildren, Courtney, Cassidy and Caitlin Burton and Thomas J. and Christopher D. O’Keefe. He was predeceased by a son Daniel B. O’Keefe who died in 1988.
He was born in Worcester, the son of Patrick J. and Anna C. (Moynihan) O’Keefe and was educated in the Worcester Public School system. Daniel was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II. Prior to entering the Army, Daniel attended Holy Cross College and graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in 1945 and with a Masters Degree of Arts in Education in 1946 from Clark University after returning from the war. Mr. O’Keefe worked for the Worcester Public Schools for 38 years. He began his teaching career as an English Teacher at North High School and served as head of the English Department. In 1985, he retired as the Assistant Principal from North High School. Daniel was a lifelong member of Blessed Sacrament Church and belonged to the Holy Cross Alumni Sodality of Our Lady.
Funeral services and burial were private. O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue directed arrangements.
