Robert D. Lawrence, 83, of the Masonic Home formerly of Worcester died Thursday, May 24th in St. Vincent Hospital. He joined his wife of 56 years, Inez M. (Russell) Lawrence who died in 2005. He leaves a son, Robert V. Lawrence and his fiance, Judy Vernoneau of Worcester; a daughter, Debra A. Bachand and her husband, Daniel E. of Dudley; a sister in law, Marion Dowdy and her husband, Jack of St. Petersburg, FL; four grandchildren, Vanessa Georges, Robert, Jeff and Valerie Lawrence; three great grandchildren, Aaron Georges, Hailie and Leah Lawrence; and several nieces, nephews and cousins, including Lorraine Griffin of Worcester.
He was born in Worcester, the son of Louis G. and Christina (MacKenzie) Lawrence and graduated from the former High School of Commerce. Robert worked at Franzine Shoe Company for a few years and previously worked as a foreman at H.H. Brown Shoe Company for many years. He was a member of the Masons.
Robert’s family would like to thank the staff of the Masonic Home for their care and support over the years.
His funeral is Wednesday, May 30th in O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester with a service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. A calling hour will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Massachusetts Association for the Blind Community Services, 200 Ivy Street, Brookline, MA 02446 or the Bosler Humane Society, PO Box 12, Baldwinville, MA 01436.
