Robert L. Allen age 75 of Canton passed away at the Kindred Health Care in Stoughton May 24th. Born in Concord, he was raised in W. Roxbury and graduated from W. Roxbury High School where he was active in sports, especially baseball, football, bowling and golf. After school he enlisted and served in the Army. After his service to his country he enjoyed landscaping his own property as well as others to make extra money when he was first married. He worked for Boston Gas as a Field Technician for 40 years and retired in 1998. While working at Boston Gas Co. he continued his love of sports and participated in the after work baseball, bowling and golf leagues. He was elected to the Boston Gas Credit Union Board of Directors which he served for 20 years before his retirement. After his retirement he and his wife enjoyed travel vacations, especially the last 10 years of winters in Florida. He has lived in Canton for 32 years and was a member of the Boston Lodge#10 of the Elks and the Norwood Elks. Beloved husband of Maureen J. (O’Brien). Father of Debra A. Allen of Portland Oregon. Brother of Joseph W. Allen of Holliston. Also survived by 2 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Tuesday 5-8 pm. Funeral mass at St. John the Evangelist Church Canton Wednesday morning at 10:30. Interment St. Bridget Cemetery, Maynard.
