Joseph R. Wood, 75 of Londonderry, NH, passed away on Monday, May 21, 2012 at Hillsborough County Nursing Home in Goffstown following a lengthy illness.
Born in Corning, NY on July 13, 1936, he was a son of the late Joseph and Gladys (Bardwell) Wood. Mr. Wood attended Hobert College and later graduated from UNH with a degree in Engineering. Joseph proudly served his country in the US Army, having been stationed in Taiwan. Mr. Wood spent his career working as an Engineer for Raytheon, working at several locations and traveled extensively for them. He was a member of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and loved fishing, camping and going on cruises with his wife.
Surviving include his wife, Maria (Doerr) Wood of Londonderry, one son, Stewart Wood, two daughters, Kathleen Howe and Amy Jo Cooper, two step-sons, Jeffrey Morin and Douglas J. Morin, one step-daughter, Jennifer Sarcione, 24 grandchildren, five great grandchildren, one brother, James Wood and one sister Judith Smith. He was predeceased by one step-daughter Deirdre Dube in 2008, two brothers Theodore and Richard Wood.
Calling hours were held on Thursday, May 24, 2011 from 4-6:00 pm at Peabody Funeral Home and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. A Funeral service followed calling hours at the funeral home at 6:00pm. Burial with military honors was held at 9:00 am at Pillsbury Cemetery, Londonderry on Saturday, May 26, 2012. Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
