Henry A. Ely 74, of Franklin, died peacefully, at Milford Regional Medical Center Tuesday May 22, 2012 following a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Constance “Connie” (Brittain) Ely.
Born July 24, 1937 in Boston, a son of the late Henry S. and Rose M. (Giangregorio) Ely, he had been a resident of Franklin since 1965 and was a former resident of Jamaica Plain and Roxbury.
He was raised and educated in Jamaica Plain, and until his retirement, worked as a laborer for Laborers International Union of North America for 50 years. He was also a steward and executive board member for Laborers Local 609 Framingham, MA.
Henry was passionate about spending time with his family especially his grandchildren, he followed all the Boston sports teams, bowling and enjoyed horse racing. He was a softball coach for the former “Harborwood Team” in Franklin.
In addition to his wife of 51 years, he is survived by 2 sons Britt E. Ely of Maine, & Vance Ely and his wife Rona of Plainville, 2 daughters Talia Ely Bazegian of Franklin and Tiffany O’Connell and her husband Rob of Dorchester.
Also surviving are his grandchildren Kyle & Alanna Bazegian and Olivia, Victoria and Grace Ely.
He was the grandfather of the late Shannon Ely.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Friday May 25th, at 9:15AM from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. Franklin, www.oterifuneralhome.com, with a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church 1 Church Sq. at 10AM.
Interment will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Roslindale.
