TEWKSBURY - Dorothy M. (Healy) McMahon, 85 died Sunday, April 25, in Chelmsford after alengthy illness. For more than 60 years, she was the wife of retired Tewksbury firefighter HilaryO. McMahon, who died April 25, 2002, exactly two years ago.
She was born in Boston, August 15, 1918, a daughter of the late John and Margaret (O’Leary)Healy. She was raised in South Boston, was graduated from St. Augustine’s High School, andhad lived in Tewksbury since 1954.
In her earlier years, she worked for Gillette, Sylvania and the Internal Revenue Service.
She was a parishiner of St. William’s Church in Tewksbury, was a member of and held manyoffices in the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality. She was member of the Mystic Crewe of Comus, anorganizer of the St. William’s Mardi Gras, an active supporter of the St. William’s Drum andBugle Corps, a leader for the Girl Scouts of America, and a den mother for the Cub Scouts.
She is survived by five daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy and DenisSintiris of Lowell, Barbara and Jon Wintermeyer of CA, Jeanne and David Blackstone ofTewksbury, Susan and Jeffrey Bernhard of Wakefield, Christine and Kenneth Pyzluka of Clinton. Two sons and a daughter-in-law, Paul McMahon of Falmouth, and John “Jack” and Janet(Collins) McMahon of North Conway, NH. She will be missed by her grandchildren, Christine andChristopher Baker, Karen Sintiris, Denis and Donna Sintiris, William and Lisa Sintiris, AmyWintermeyer, Erin and Darrell Warner, Lauren and Michael Monko, Lindsey Samples, Nicholasand Corey McMahon, Rebecca Bernhard, Amanda and Shannon Pyzluka, Elizabeth and KaitlynBlackstone, and by her great grandchildren, Zachary, Emily, Joshua, Mikayla, Alexa, Kyle,and Madelin.
She was also sister of the late Frances Driscoll.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday, Apr. 27, in St. William’s Church. Burial was in Tewksbury Cemetery.
