Augusta, GA – Mrs. Barbara Ann Johnson, 74, entered into rest on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Westwood Nursing Facility.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel with Rev. Jason M. Haddox officiating. Interment to follow in Westover Memorial Park.
Mrs. Johnson enjoyed the time she spent serving with the Sunday School and children’s choir of Curtis Baptist Church. She also served as the secretary and organist at Calvary Baptist Church. Mrs. Johnson was the co-owner of Johnson and Claxton Tax Service and went on to work at Savannah River Site in the human resources department until her retirement. She was a member of the Wednesday Morning Bible Study at St. Augustine Episcopal Church and volunteered as a poll worker with the Richmond County Board of Elections.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by her daughters, Mary Elizabeth Johnson and Suzanne Johnson both of Augusta; and also by her “special buddy”, Gary Swint. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Daniel Johnson.
Mrs. Johnson’s daughters would like to thank University Hospital 10 West staff and Westwood Nursing Facility for their kind and respectful care given to their mom. A special thanks also to Dr. Alice David for her trusted and compassionate care.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, May 22, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
