Dorothy Rhymer Hurt, 91, of Tifton died Saturday, May 19, 2012, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 21, 2012, in Tift Memorial Gardens. Dr. Jeff Pangle will officiate with entombment to follow in the Tift Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 21, 2012, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of the service.
Mrs. Hurt was born on April 2, 1921 in Bristol, Tennessee and was the daughter of Roy C. Rhymer and Erma Blanch Buckles Riley, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jack Mitchell Hurt; two brothers and two sisters. She was retired from Levine Uniform Company and attended Peace Lutheran Church in Tifton.
Mrs. Hurt was the loving mother of three daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Gerald Barfield of Tifton, Jackie and Malcolm Light of Tifton and Marilyn and Frank Knuck of Miami, Florida; and she will be missed by her seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren, seven nieces, five nephews and countless friends. She is also survived by two sisters, Eleanor Castello of Texas and Pat Van-Catledge of Delaware.
