Obituary

NORFOLK—Frank S. Anthony 66, of Norfolk, passed away suddenly, Sunday May 13, 2012 while visiting his brother in Patchogue, New York. He was the husband of Alice E. (Heiss) Anthony.
Born in Manhattan, New York on May 9, 1946 a son of the late Frank and Anne A. (Dowling) Anthony, he was a resident of Norfolk for the past 29 years and was a former resident of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Mr. Anthony was raised and educated on Long Island, New York and he attended the Beth Page school system. He was a graduate of Beth Page High School class of 1964. He continued his education at the University of Pennsylvania, where he was an All-American lightweight football player and he obtained his law degree from the University of Virginia.
In his early career, he worked on Wall Street, was a corporate attorney for Westinghouse and Saint-Gobain Corporation, he became Vice President for Bird Materials, and was an attorney for CertainTeed until retiring. He was also the co-owner of the Lakeville Athletic Club and a current board member of the East Walpole Cemetery.
He served his country honorably during the Vietnam War in the Army.
He enjoyed playing tennis, being with his family, and will be remembered for his great sense of humor. A man who loved the outdoors, he became interested in mountain climbing later in life, in 2003 along with his daughter climbed Machupicchu in Peru, then he summited some of the world’s largest mountains, Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania (05), Mt. Elbrus in Russia (07), and Mt. Aconcagua in Argentina (10). Following his climbing experiences, he wrote and had a book published called the “Climbing Chronicles” detailing his experiences.
In addition to his wife of 42 years, he is survived by his children, Frank S. Anthony, Jr. and his wife Michelle of Franklin, Richard A. Anthony and his wife Elena of Raynham, and Krista E. Anthony and her fiancé Daniel Petrelli of Norfolk, a brother Robert W. Anthony and his children Brooke & Ryan Anthony of Patchogue, NY and a granddaughter Lauren M. Anthony.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service Saturday May 19th, at 11AM in the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. Franklin, www.oterifuneralhome.com. His interment will be held at a later date at East Walpole Cemetery.
Calling hours are Friday May 18th, from 2-4 & 6-9PM at the funeral home.
