New Bedford - Rosalina (Souza) Fernandes, 79, died Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles Fernandes. Rosalina was the mother of Richard Fernandes husband of Deborah, Carl Fernandes, James Fernandes husband of Sheree, Sharon Fernandes and Rose Silva. Mrs. Fernandes was the grandmother of Corey Fernandes and grandmother of the late Chad Vieira. Rosalina is survived by her brother Paul Souza his wife Dorothy, 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was a sister of the late Albert Souza, the late Edward Souza, the late Elsie Jeffries, the late Agnes Sylvia and the late Rita Cabral.
Mrs. Fernandes was a daughter of the late Serafina (Correia) and Alfred Souza. She was born in New Bedford and lived most her life in Acushnet. Rosalina was a homemaker. Mrs Fernandes loved being with her family and enjoyed playing cards and going to Foxwoods.
Mrs. Fernandes funeral will be at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. Friday at 9A.M. Mass will follow at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church at 10:00 A.M. Relatives and Friends are invited. Visiting hours are Thursday, from 6-9 P.M.
