Joseph F. “Joe” Jansen, 61 of Somerville, died Monday after a long illness in the Spaulding Hospital-Cambridge, Cambridge, MA.
Born in Cambridge, he lived in Somerville all his life and was the son of the late Florence (Paolillo) and Joseph Jansen. Joe was a Mechanic at the former Libon Motors in Allston for 30 years. A late U.S. Army National Guard veteran of Vietnam from1969 to 1975. He also was Past Commander of the Medford American Legion Post 45.
Beloved husband of Clara (Caranfa) Jansen. Devoted father of Joseph Jansen and his wife Traci of Somerville, Jeffrey Jansen and his wife Cathrine of Medford. Brother of William "Bill" Jansen and his wife Barb of Mashpee, David Jansen and his wife Linda of Revere.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Friday at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 262 Washington St., Somerville, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday 4 - 8.
Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
