Rev. Freddie Lee Thomas, 69, of Tifton died Monday, May 14, 2012, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 18, 2012, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Edward Rewis will officiate with a eulogy to be given by Larry Johnson. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Cory Roland, MacKenzie Harper, Wayne Roland, Freddie Lee Roberts, Justin Roig, Douglas Morris and Kyle Caulder will serve as pallbearers. Rev. Thomas will be taken to his residence at 1210 Wilson Avenue in Tifton where he will lie in state until the hour of the service.
Rev. Thomas was born on February 28, 1943 in Tifton and was the son of Rev. Lee Grant Thomas and Bessie Allen Thomas, both deceased. He was a minister and was the pastor of Springhill Baptist Church in Tifton. He had lived his entire life in Tifton.
Rev. Thomas is survived by his wife, Mary Alice “Jo” Mullis Thomas of Tifton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Diane and Douglas Morris of Tifton and Nancy Rebecca and Wayne Roland of Ray City; one brother, Rev. William Carroll Thomas of Illinois; two sisters, Patricia Lewis of Illinois and Jeanette Roberts of Tifton; seven grandchildren, Emily Roig, Ashley Roig, Justin Roig, Kyle Caulder, Tiffany Caulder, Casey Roland and Cory Roland; and three great-grandchildren, Brayden Caulder, Alexis Smith and Camerion Smith.
