WORCESTER-George J. Kirkorian, Sr., 80, of 39 First Street passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, April 22nd in Western Mass Hospital, Westfield. He leaves his wife of 58 years, Mary C. (Galinis) Kirkorian, 4 sons, George J. Kirkorian, Jr. and his wife Dona Kirkorian of Auburn, Robert E. and his wife Sandra Kirkorian of Worcester, Paul D. and his wife Patricia Kirkorian of Tempe, AZ and Barry J. and his wife Deborah Kirkorian of Raymond, NH; a sister, Helen A. wife of Robert Broman of Worcester; 6 grandchildren, Robert, Derek, Melissa, Heather, Daniel and Christie Kirkorian; 2 great grandchildren, Jadon and Jamie Kirkorian; a nephew, James Broman and a niece, Judith Kaufman. A sister Margaret A. Barbarito predeceased him.
He was born in Worcester the son of Arisdakes and Sofia S. (Ekmekjian) Krikorian, graduated from Shrewsbury High School and was a Navy veteran of WWII. Mr. Kirkorian owned several local bakeries retiring in 1995. He was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church, enjoyed square dancing, ballroom dancing, round dancing and was an avid fisherman.
The funeral service is Monday, April 26th at 11:00 AM in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Burial will be private. A calling hour will be held from 10:00 until 11:00 AM the day of the funeral. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 36 Cameron Avenue, Cambridge, MA 02140-1102.
