Obituary

WORCESTER – George J. Gebron, 91, of Worcester, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, May 13, 2012. He passed into Eternal Life at Autumn Village in Worcester surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family and his wonderful caregivers. He was born in Springfield on March 2, 1921, a beloved son of the late Peter J. and Mary (Kadra) Gebron. At a young age his family moved to Worcester and in 1939 he graduated from Sacred Heart Academy. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II aboard the USS Northampton at Pearl Harbor and attained the rank of Ship Fitter First Class. Following World War II, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country during the Korean War, attaining the rank of Technical Sergeant. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Maronite Catholic Church in Worcester. He leaves: his devoted brother, Deacon Charles J. Gebron and his wife, Judy, of Longmeadow; his loving sister, Ruth Gebron, of Worcester; his children, Patricia Fleetwood, Ronald Gebron, Robert Gebron and Pamela Allen; his grandchildren; and his dear nephews, Donald Casey and Joseph Gebron. His family would like to thank the staff at Autumn Village in Worcester, especially Marion Dricomi, for their compassionate care. His funeral will be held on Thursday morning, May 17, 2012 from the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8 a.m.) followed by a Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15 a.m. at Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 375 Island Pond Road, Springfield, MA 01118. His Committal Service with Military Honors will follow the Mass at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. His family has requested that memorial donations be made in his memory to Our Lady of Mercy Maronite Catholic Church, 341 June Street, Worcester, MA 01602.
