Bruce Leavitt, 60

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Bruce Leavitt, 60, of Mansfield, formerly Dedham, passed away on Friday May 11, 2012, in the presence of his loving family, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was the beloved husband of Kit ( Hodder) Leavitt, to whom he was wed on February 14, 1992.
Born in Boston, MA on April 12, 1952, he was a dear son of John O., Jr. and Corrine B. (Zorn) Leavitt of Dedham.
Bruce grew up in Dedham and was a 1970 graduate of Dedham High School. He furthered his studies and received an associates degree from Massasoit Community College and his bachelors degree in Bio Medicine from Tufts University.
A resident of Manfield for over 20 years, Mr. Leavitt was employed as a Bio Technician throughout New England.
An avid golfer, Bruce was a former member of the Wampatuck Country Club in Canton. He also enjoyed camping and spending time with his family and best friends “Milo” and “Cody”
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his devoted children; Private Austen J. Leavitt (MA National Guard) of Mansfield , Kathy Jo Cole and her husband Matthew of Columbus, Ohio and Kimberly Miller and her husband David of Medina, Ohio. He was the loving brother of John O. Leavitt, III and his wife Roberta of Warner, New Hampshire, Stephen Leavitt of London, England and Carol M. Flaherty and her husband Thomas of Norwood, and is also survived by several cherished nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Tuesday May 15th at 9:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 420 High St., Dedham. Burial will follow in the Brookdale Cemetery, Dedham.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, May14th from 5-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield
