Obituary

SALEM- Sophia C. (Sowinski) Andruszkiewicz, 85, formerly of Salem, wife of the late Walter J. Andruszkiewicz, Sr., died Friday morning, April 23, 2004 at the Radius Healthcare Center, Beverly, following a long illness.

Born is Salem, she was the daughter of the late Ladislaus and Aniela (Szostek) Sowinski. She was a graduate of Salem High School and a lifelong resident of the city until moving to the nursing home.

Prior to her retirement in 1960, she was employed for 15 years by the General Electric Co. at the West Lynn plant.

An active member of the Polish community, she was a parishioner of the St. John The Baptist Church, where she was a member of the St Ann Society. She was a National Director and local treasurer of the St. Joseph Society, PRCU, a member of the Women’s Polish American Citizens Club of Salem, and the Massachusetts Federation of Polish Women’s Clubs.

Mrs Andruszkiewicz is survived by a daughter-in-law, Linda Andruszkiewicz of Danvers, two grandchildren, Vicki Lyn Andruszkiewicz and Tina Lyn Andruszkiewicz, both of Danvers, and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Walter J. Andruszkiewicz, Jr., and sister of the late William Sowinski, Alexander Sowinski, Henrietta Twarog and Mary J. Michalowski.

Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at 9 am from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 am at the St. John The Baptist Church, Salem. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Monday, 4 to 7 pm. Burial is in Oakdale Cemetery, Middleton.
