Obituary

SALEM - Ardis L. Lee, 93, of Salem, died Tuesday evening, May 8, 2012 in the Salem Hospital, following a short illness.

Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Harold H. and Nina M. (Sandford) Lee.

Prior to her retirement in 1985, Miss Lee was a violinist and classroom music teacher in Waltham and Peabody for 34 years, and was a member of the Retired Teachers Association of Essex County.

She was a graduate of Salem High School in the class of 1937, received her B.A. degree at the New England Conservatory of Music and attended the Boston Conservatory of Music.

She was a long time member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, Salem, where she sang in the choir and served on the music and alter committees as well as assisted at various church functions and events including the bean suppers.

Ardis is survived by one sister, Hilda G. Lee of Salem and several cousins in the U.S., Canada and England, including Harold Corkum of Hampden, formerly of Danvers. She was the sister of the late Shirley Lee, who died in 1982 and Anna, Ruth and Doris Lee who died during the flu epidemic in 1918.

A Memorial Service will be held Monday. May 14, 2012 at 11 am at the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Cemetery services are private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Miss Lee's memory to the Wesley United Methodist Church, 8 North St., Salem, MA 01970.
