Griffes, Jean V., passed away Saturday May 5, 2012, at the Altenheim, surrounded by family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband, Bill (William) Griffes of 60 years.
She was a graduate of the old Louisville Girls High School, and worked for the telephone company before becoming a homemaker and mother. She was a member of Briargate Presbyterian Church.
She enjoyed living her life on her family’s farm, which is now Riverside, Farnsley-Moremen Landing in Valley Station. She loved to bake, sew, work in her flower garden, and write letters of encouragement to family and friends. Most of all, spending time with her children brought her the greatest joy and happiness.
She is survived by three sons, Willy Zep of St. Louis, Mo., Alan Griffes (Dawn) and Gordon Griffes (Jayne); a sister Nannette White, and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank The Altenheim and Hosparus for their excellent care and support.
Memorial services will be held 5:00 pm Saturday at the Briargate Presbyterian Church 2100 Upper Hunters Trace. Visitation will be 3:00 – 8:00 pm Friday at the Owen Funeral Home 5317 Dixie Hwy.
