Thomas I. Gates, 50, of East Freetown died May 6, 2012 unexpectedly at St. Luke's Hospital.
Born in New Bedford, the son of Carolyn A. (Cree) Gates of East Freetown and the late Donald I. Gates, he lived in New Bedford most of his life before moving to East Freetown 12 years ago.
He was employed as a boat builder in many boat yards in Southeastern Massachusetts.
Mr. Gates enjoyed woodworking.
Survivors include his mother; a brother, Mark Gates of Marion; a sister, Donna Phillips of New Bedford; several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Cathy Ann Pimentel.
His visiting hours will be held on Saturday, May 12th from 4-6 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford.
