Napoleao S. Oliveira, 91, of New Bedford died May 4, 2012 peacefully at home surrounded by his family and friends.
He was the husband of the late Adelina T. (DePina) Oliveira.
Born in Brava, Cape Verde, the son of the late Francisco and Maria (Tavares) Oliveira, he lived in Senegal before moving to New Bedford in 1966.
Mr. Oliveira was formerly employed by C & C Yachts in Newport, RI until his retirement.
He enjoyed building model boats and gardening.
Survivors include his three daughters, Julia Ramos and her husband Orlando of New Bedford, Raquel Oliveira of Georgia and Elisabeth DePina and her husband Eduardo; eight grandchildren, Justin Ramos, Cameron Ramos, Julien Oliveira, Zeferino Gomes, Jeanie Colletti, Lin Foulk, Gilson Ramos, and Hercules Ramos; eight great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the grandfather of the late Joel Pires.
His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 9th at 10:30 AM at the First Church of the Nazarene, 764 Hathaway Rd. New Bedford. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, May 8th from 4-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
