Marshfield – Nancy Jean (Sabin) Gerraughty of Marshfield, formerly of Cocoa, FL and long-time resident of Hanson and Abington, died at home surrounded by family and friends, Wednesday, May 2, 2012, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Beloved daughter of John and Madeline (Buddy) Sabin, she grew up in Abington and graduated from Abington High School in 1964. She worked for many years at New England Art in Abington and the Rockland Trust Co.
Family was very important to her. She leaves behind her husband Frank “Sonny” Gerraughty of Marshfield and Cocoa, FL, her sister, Jane Sabin of Vieques, PR, her children; Treva Gerraughty and her husband Chris White of Marshfield, Sean Gerraughty of Hanson, Scott Gerraughty of Marshfield and her beloved grandchildren; Evan Sabin and Aden Sabin-White. She was also the step-mother to; Mary Frances Smith of Ohio, Anna Marie Precourt of Norton, the late Pauline Precourt of Norton, Frank (Joe) Gerraughty of North Carolina, Michelle Jones of Taunton, and Rhonda Kourafas of Brockton. She also leaves behind many cousins and close friends.
She was a generous person who was always willing to lend a helping hand to friends or neighbors in need. She was a member of the board for the Christine Sullivan Foundation and an active member of her high school graduation class. She enjoyed the beach, reading, shopping and spending time with her close friends.
Nancy did not want a wake or somber funeral. Instead, a Life Celebration Mass, with reception to follow, will be held at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 17 Church St. Hanover, MA, on Friday, May 18, 2012 at 10:00 am.
