Mr. Albert J. Zaccardo, 88 of Medford died on Thursday at home surrounded by his loving family. He is the husband of Catherine (Sarro) Zaccardo with whom he shared more than 65 years of marriage. Born in Somerville, son of the late Louis and Mary Zaccardo, he spent his early days in Somerville and is a graduate of Somerville High School, class of 1941. The following years he joined the Navy where he spent the following 4 years. Al has been a resident of Medford for more than 55 years. He had worked as a printer for a box company. In his spare time he loved to play pool, bowl and enjoyed games of chance. He enjoyed occasional trips to Las Vegas. He had been a member of the Italian Club in Somerville and was also fond of music of the 40’s and 50’s in the style of of the Rat Pack era.
In addition to his wife, Al leaves a daughter Karen McCarthy of Malden, a son Gerald Zaccardo and his wife Annette of FL. Loving grandfather of Corinn Chadwell and her husband Matt and Patrick McCarthy. Loving great grandfather of Emma and Ashlyn Chadwell. Dear brother of Anthony Zaccardo and his wife Camille of Stoneham, William Zaccardo and his wife Polly of FL; Rita Cataldo of Medford and the late Angie Staffier, Theresa Fondini, Joseph, Louie, Johnny, Frankie, Mary, Rose & Jerry Zaccardo. A funeral service will be conducted in the Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Saturday at 11:00 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Friday 4 - 8 PM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Al’s name may be sent to the Beacon Hospice, 529 Main St., Suite 101, Charlestown, MA 02129.
