
Fall River – William “Bill” Thomas Pearson, 89, of Westport, died Tuesday, April 20, 2004 at Charlton Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born in Fall River, son of the late Thomas and Isabella (Shoard) Pearson, and had lived in Westport most of his life. A graduate of the former Mount Herman School for Boys in Northfield, MA, he was the owner and operator of the Westport Social Athletic Club.
Mr. Pearson was a United States Army veteran of WWII, who was wounded on D-Day +4 as a member of the 315th Infantry regiment of the Cross of Lorraine. He was a life member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, member of Disabled American Veterans, member of the American Legion, and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. He was a charter member of the Westport Investment Novices (W.I.N.) Club, member of St. John’s Athletic Club, Westport Holy Ghost, Little Compton Game Club, Duck’s Unlimited, and the Bristol County Deputy Sheriffs Association. He also served as past president of the Westport Lion’s Club, and was a member of the International Association of Lion’s Clubs, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of the Lodge Council Chapter Consistory of Fall River and a member of King Phillip Lodge A.F. & A.M.
He is survived by a brother: Robert E. Pearson of Orlando, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside memorial service to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Saturday, April 24, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
Following services there will be a time for reflection to be announced at the cemetery.
