Obituary

Methuen, Ma. - Luigi G. “Louie” Russotto 85 died APRIL 29, 2012 at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen surrounded by his loving family.
He was born February 5, 1927 in Lawrence and was the son of Angelo and Clementine (Auitello) Russotto. Mr. Russotto was a graduate of Lawrence High School, and Wentworth Institute. Upon graduation he became a master carpenter and then project superintendent with Charles Construction and Ray Mansour Construction for over 40 years before his retirement.
Mr. Russotto was an avid golfer and was a well known fixture at the Haverhill Country Club, which he was a member of for over 35 years and the Merrimack Valley Golf Course. In October of 2011 at 84 years of age he had a hole in one at Merrimack Valley Country Club and was a front page feature in the Eagle Tribune. Mr. Russotto not only showed his golf talent in the Merrimack Valley but also in Florida where he enjoyed playing golf with son-in-law where he had just spent three months this winter with his daughter and son-in-law. In addition to golf, Mr. Russotto was a great animal lover as he was frequently seen at the Rockingham race track admiring the horses. Mr. Russotto was the widower of Angela (Orlando) Russotto who past away June 2011. He served his country during World War II with the United States Navy before his honorable discharge at the wars end. One of Luigi’s greatest joys was spending a traditional Christmas Eve with his brother Sam Caliento and his wife Mirinda and their family and children.
Luigi is survived by his daughter Dianne R. and her husband Frank Luistro of Naples, Florida and Methuen; two brothers, Sam Caliento and his wife Mirinda of No. Andover, and Michael Russotto and his wife Roseanne of Salt Lake City, Utah, one brother-in-law Joseph Orlando and his wife Aileen of Waltham, one sister-in-law Emilie and her husband Frank Collopy of The Villages, FL and Seabrook, N.H.; two step-grandchildren, Carrie Ann and her husband Christopher O’Donnell of Newburyport and Christopher Luistro and his wife Julie of North Attleboro; five step-great grandchildren, beloved nieces and nephews, and many cousins; and a dear friend and golfing buddy Al Ampolone, and “second” daughter Maura Collopy, his neighbor and caretaker, and her daughter Sarah Burrous who Luigi loved as his own granddaughter.
ARRANGEMENTS: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society Relay for Life, to be held June 2 -3 at Methuen High School. Luigi’s great niece Sarah Burrous will be walking for both Luigi and Angela Russotto. Contributions may be mailed to Relay for Life c/o Sarah Burrous, 65 Ayer St. Methuen, MA 01844. A funeral Mass will take place on Saturday at 11 a.m in Saint Lucy’s Church in Methuen. Friends will be warmly received on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen.
