Obituary

Aaron Harper, 65, of Fitzgerald, died Monday, April 30, 2012, at Trinity Hospital in Augusta.

Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Thursday, May 3, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Earlie Holt officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Wednesday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.

Mr. Harper was born January 29, 1947 in Ocilla, Georgia to Pauline Brady Buras and the late Edgar Harper. He lived in Fitzgerald most of his life. Mr. Harper was an auto body repairman and was former operator of the Pop Shop. He helped organize the Poor Boy Opry and enjoyed singing, playing the guitar, piano and harmonica. He attended the Christian Tabernacle and was a former Mason and Shriner. Mr. Harper was awarded the Life Time Achievement Award from the Fitzgerald-Ben Hill Chamber of Commerce in 2002 and was awarded Mason of the Year in 2008.

He is survived by his wife, Pam Harper; mother and stepfather, Pauline & Paul Buras; sister & brother-in-law, Betty & Herman Lavender; all of Fitzgerald, brother & sister-in-law, Alvin L. & Sherry Harper of Ocilla; 10 grandchildren; stepchildren, Derinda & Darrell Lewis and Robert & Alana Sims of Fitzgerald, Jimmy Wayne Brady of Nashville, Richard & Cindy Bostick of Tifton and Robert Darryl & Abby Bostick of Warner Robins.
