Obituary

YORK HARBOR, ME: Nancy (White) Fowler, age 75 of York Harbor, Maine, formerly of Wayland, MA passed away on Sunday April 22, 2012 after a long illness. Nancy was born on January 18, 1937 in Milford, MA. She was the daughter of Helen E (Howard) White and William G White. Nancy was married on April 18, 1959 to the late Frederick V. Fowler Jr. who died on February 9, 2012. They lived and raised their family in Wayland, MA for many years.

Nancy’s early years were spent in California and High School years in Shrewsbury, MA. In 1954, at the age of 17, Nancy moved to Boston, where she attended the Acadamie Moderne to become a fashion model. Nancy joined the Hart Agency soon after graduation and was recognized throughout her career as one of the top models in Boston for television and print. Her modeling career extended over a 20 year period and included work for Touraine, Macy’s, J.M. Fields, Parker Brothers’, Green Stamps, Bonwit Teller and many more. During her career as a fashion model, Nancy also taught Charm School at the Acadamie du Charme in Brookline, MA.
In the early 1980’s, Nancy’s passion turned to interior design. She attended the Chamberlain School for Design and started Interior Design Concepts, Inc. in 1985 with 3 locations in Sudbury, MA, North Conway, NH and Newburyport, MA. Nancy was a member of American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and won numerous design awards. Nancy’s creative talents led her to design interiors for hundreds of projects including model homes, country clubs, inns, office spaces and restaurants throughout New England.
Nancy is survived by her daughter Cynthia Ann (Fowler) Francis, her son-in-law David W. Francis, her granddaughters Haley Standish Francis and Kelley Elizabeth Francis all of York, ME and her son Frederick V. Fowler III of Wayland, MA. Her brother William White Jr. and sister Judy White also survive. Nancy will be remembered by her family and friends as a beautiful person - both inside and out.
Services to celebrate Nancy’s life will be private.
