Thomas B. Keene, age 83 of Brockton died Thursday April 26, 2012 at St. Joseph Manor surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband for 52 years of Kathleen M. (Plunkett) Keene. For the past 15 years he had been a resident of Brockton. Tom was born and raised in Whitman a son of the late Cyril and Gladys (Tirrel) Keene. He served in the US Army for seven years during the Korean War and was a charter member of the VFW in Halifax. For many years Tom was a tractor trailer driver for environmental cleanup and retired from the former Jet Line Environmental Services.
In his free time he enjoyed gardening, playing horseshoes, watching NASCAR and the Red Sox and listening to country Western music. He also had a passion for motorcycles. Tom will be remembered as a hard worker but a also very quiet, strong and loving man, who was a great husband, dad and grandfather. He was most proud of his family and having served his country.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his three daughters Kim-Marie Mulready and her companion Fred Pace of Brockton; Katherine Keene of Abington and Theresa Bethune and her husband Wes of E. Bridgewater, his sisters Doris Sprage and her husband Charles of Whitman; Muriel Leonard of Butler, NJ and Roy Keene and his wife Janet of Frankfurt, ME. He leaves five grandchildren Erica McCann, Mykel and Matthew Looney, Heather Pace and Griffen Bethune, five great grandchildren Danny, Sean, Brenden and Madison McCann and Antonio Bautista and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Earl, Ralph, Roger, Lloyd and Cyril, Jr. Keene and Marjorie Pinkham.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton Saturday May 5, 2012 from 1 to 4 with a prayer Service at 3:30pm and closing with military honors.
