Obituary

SPRINGFIELD – Robert C. “Bobby” Redmond, 73, of the East Springfield section of Springfield was Called Safely Home on Monday, April 30, 2012. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Springfield on December 26, 1938, a beloved son of the late Charles R. and Marion (Robinson) Redmond. He was raised and schooled in Springfield and was a lifelong resident of the city. He was a long time truck driver and worked at Leland Plastics in Chicopee and later at Bay West Plastics in West Springfield. He was a member of the Marconi Club in Springfield and a communicant of Mary, Mother of Hope Church in East Springfield. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend of 38 years, Beatrice M. (St. Martin) Redmond; his loving children, Michael J. Redmond and his wife, Sherry, Glen P. Redmond and his partner, Holly Scott, and Joseph R. Redmond and his partner, Elizabeth “Bonnie” Scott, all of Springfield, Christine M. Redmond-MacLure of Granby, Shellye A. Redmond of Springfield, Lori A. Bryant and her husband, Michael, of Agawam, Michele R. Trznadel and her husband, Thomas, of Chicopee and Michael Santaniello of Springfield; his 11 cherished grandchildren, Glen Redmond, Jr., Ryan Redmond, Antony Redmond and Jonathan Redmond, Brandon Redmond, Sean MacLure and Tegan MacLure, Brittney Bryant, Michael Bryant, Jack Bryant and Gabriella Trznadel; his dear brothers, Larry Redmond and his partner, Elaine Gay, of West Springfield, Keith Redmond of Springfield and Michael Redmond and his wife, Christine, of Granby; his dear sisters, Marilyn Anderson and her husband, William, of West Springfield and Donna Fitzgerald and her husband, Daniel, of Springfield; and his many dear nephews and nieces. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his dear brother, Edward Redmond. His funeral will be held on Thursday morning, May 3, 2012 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107 (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Mary, Mother of Hope Church, 840 Page Boulevard, East Springfield, MA 01104. His entombment will follow the Mass at Saint Michael the Archangel Chapel Mausoleum, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA 01109. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. His family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made in his memory to the American Diabetes Association, 2080 Silas Deane Highway, 2nd Floor, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
