Maria G. (Centamori) Asaro, of Somerville, died peacefully at her home on Thursday evening in the company of her loving family. She was 71.
Maria was born and raised in Mineo, Sicily, the daughter of the late Antonio and the late Giovanna (Cudde) Centamori. As a young woman, she came to the United States and settled in Somerville 46 years ago. She was a devout woman who was active at her parish, St. Ann’s. She was devoted to her family and friends and especially loved the company of her grandchildren.
The beloved wife of Pasquale Asaro, she was a devoted mother to Filippo Asaro and his wife Jennifer of Malden and Nella Cartolano and her husband Anthony of Medford. She was a loving grandmother to Anthony, Abrielle and Pasquale. The dear sister of Sr. Mary Liliana, Sr. Mary Fiorenza, both of Italy, Concetta Renda of Peabody, Angela Dovidio of Somerville, Sr. Mary Fausta of Italy and Emanuela Ferullo of Walpole, she also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Monday from 4 – 8 at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. Procession will gather at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 1st at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Ann Church, 399 Medford Street, Somerville. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery.
