Obituary

Francis A. “Joe” Kelley, 78, of Manchester, died April 27, 2012 at Community Hospice House in Merrimack after a brief illness.
He was born in Manchester on August 16, 1933 to Francis P. and Regina (Mailloux) Kelley. He was a lifelong resident of Manchester.
During the Korean War he served as a Military Police in Boston with the U.S. Army.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from St. Anselm College and a master’s degree from Boston University.
Mr. Kelley was a math teacher at Milford High School for 33 years. He was passionate about teaching math and coaching the girls basketball and softball teams, leading them to several state championships. He also coached baseball at South Little League in Manchester. He enjoyed time spent with his family, including card playing.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Janet Kelley in 2002.
The family includes his beloved wife of 53 years, Laura A. (Samson) Kelley of Manchester; three children, James P. Kelley of Huntington Beach, CA, John H. Kelley and his wife, Christina, of Orange, MA and Frank E. Kelley of Londonderry; four grandchildren, Heather Kelley, Nicole Kelley, Nadia Kelley and Natasha Kelley; a brother, Robert Kelley of Manchester; and nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at St. Anthony Church, 172 Belmont St., Manchester. Committal prayers followed at St. Joseph Cemetery, 448 Donald St., Bedford.
