Steven M. Konczakowski, age 60, of Windham, CT died at home on April 28th after a brief battle with cancer.
He was born on Jan. 5, 1952 in Buffalo, NY to the late Dr. Marian Konczakowski and the late Claudine Swift Konczakowski.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Anne Newton Wheeler; his two daughters Rachel Cortes and Amanda Konczakowski; his beloved son-in-law Alberto Cortes; eight grandchildren, and his faithful dog, Fenner.
Steven will be sadly missed by his loving sisters and brothers, Mary (Arthur) Pappas of Naples, FL; Michael (Pattie) Konczakowski of Lafayette, LA; Judy (Mark) Rudiger of West Chester, PA, and Joseph Konczakowski of Houston, TX. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was a Vietnam Veteran having served in the U.S. Army, 35th Armor, 4th Division from 1968-1972.
He was a motorcycle enthusiast who took great pride in his “Harley Davidson”. He was an active member of the Harley Owners Group, “HOG” and the Rolling Thunder, Inc. supporting POW/MIA of all wars. In recent years, he actively participated in a Four Corners Bike Rally fulfilling one of his passions.
A Funeral service will be conducted at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Thursday, May 3rd at 10am. Burial with presentation of military honors will be in Elm Grove Cemetery.
