Obituary

Albert Lee Gaffney, Sr., 80, of Pine St. Woonsocket, died Thursday at Trinity Health Center. He was the loving husband of Ethel M. (Jeter) Gaffney.
Born in South Carolina, he was a son of the late Robert Lee and Troxcell (Gibson) Gaffney. He was a resident of Woonsocket for the past 46 years.
Mr. Gaffney was employed by Hyman Brickle Corporation for many years until his retirement 20 years ago.
Mr. Gaffney was baptized at a very early age and attended Trinity A.M.E. Church in his native South Carolina. While living in Woonsocket he was a member of the Church of God in Christ of All Nations.
Mr. Gaffney enjoyed fishing and was an adept mechanic, spending much of his free time working on his car.
Albert, Sr. will be most remembered as being a man completely devoted to his wife and family.
In addition to his wife of over 55 years, he leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Albert L. Gaffney, Jr. and his wife Brenda Lee, and James E. Gaffney, all of Woonsocket. Three grandchildren Albert L. Gaffney, III, Joshua Whittie Gaffney, and Amber Lee Gaffney and a host great-grandchildren. He was the brother of John Gaffney of Woonsocket and the late Howard Gaffney, Mary Daisy Gaffney, Mattie Lee Hardy, Troxcelle Cole, Johnsie Jackson and Dorothy Farrie. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be Tuesday at 11:00 am in the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, North Smithfield. Visiting hours are Monday from 5-8 pm.
