Obituary

Theresa E. “Terry” (Vickery) Hammel, age 85, died peacefully on Thursday afternoon, April 26, 2012, at MetroWest Medical Center, Framingham, after a long illness.

Born, raised and educated in Weymouth, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence G. and Florence (Morin) Vickery. She was married to Thomas I. Hammel on December 12, 1948, and the couple settled in Natick.

Theresa was employed as a waitress at the Redwood and Beacon Terrace restaurants prior to working for several years at N.E. Instruments. She was then employed with Finnerty’s Country Squire in Wayland until her retirement in 1976. Active for many years with Saint Patrick’s Parish in Natick, Terry was a Past Regent of the Daughters of Isabella. She enjoyed volunteering at Saint Patrick’s Manor and was an enthusiastic Bingo player, as much for the friendships she formed as for the game. She and Tom spent winters in Melbourne, FL, and enjoyed dining out on special occasions.

She is survived by Tom; two sons, Thomas D. Hammel and wife Patricia of Easthampton, and Clifford P. Hammel and wife Betsy of Natick; two daughters, Diane M. Sherman and husband Donald of Millis, and Kathy A. Daigle and Bernard Kuhn of Franklin; two grandchildren, Steven and Taylor Daigle of Franklin; three sisters, Ruth Collins and Irene Bergerson of RI, and Dorothy Acker of FL; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters Geraldine Maxim and June Molitor and brother Edward Vickery.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at Saint Patrick’s Church, 44 East Central Street, Natick, on Wednesday, May 2nd at 10:00a.m. Burial will follow at Brookdale Cemetery, Dedham.

Visiting hours will be at the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, Natick, on Tuesday 4 – 7p.m.
