Obituary

Betty B. Williamson, 91, of Ben Hill County, died Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at the home of her daughter in Pitts.

Graveside services will be held 11 A.M., Saturday, April 28, 2012 in the Evergreen Cemetery, Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Lawton Sammons and the Rev. Brent Duncan officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Friday evening at the funeral home.

Mrs. Williamson was born March 18, 1921 in Oak Creek, Colorado to the late William Tyson and Wilma White Briggs. She grew up in Douglas, Georgia and was a former resident of Jackson, South Carolina. She lived in Ben Hill County since 1974 after being a Wilcox County resident for 38 years. She was a former administrative assistant with 27 years service to the Fitzgerald Water, Light, and Bond Commission. Mrs. Williamson was a member of Salem Baptist Church, Farm Bureau, and was a good and dedicated mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her children: LTC George L. Williamson (USAF RET) and Joyce of Round Rock, Texas, Ann W. Stone of Pitts, Wayne & Vicky Williamson of Rochelle, and Helen W. & Tim Harris of Lyons, nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and one brother: William “Bill” & Evelyn Briggs of Jacksonville, FL. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: George Lafayette Williamson, Jr., one brother: LTC James E. “Jack” Briggs, USAF, and a son-in-law: Pete Stone.
