Joan J. Archer, 70, of Tifton, GA died Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at Osceola Healthcare in Ocilla, GA.
Funeral services will be held 2 P.M., Friday, April 27, 2012 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lonnie Norris officiating. Eulogies will be given by John Ross Archer, Sr. and Linda Avert. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Thursday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Archer was born September 14, 1941 in Millen, GA to the late Mack Donald and Elizabeth Evans Jamerson. A graduate of Sylvania High School, she held a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia and did post-graduate work at Creighton University. A retired teacher with the Ben Hill County School System, she moved to Steinhatchee, Florida in 1995. Returning to Georgia in 2007, she lived in Sylvania where she participated in ministry to a class of older ladies. After moving to Tifton, she was a member of the First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband: John Ross Archer, Sr. of Tifton, GA; children: Beth and Melvin Hobbs of Enigma, GA, John R. Archer, Jr and Doug and Angie Archer, all of Irwin County; 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; brother: Don Jamerson of Sylvania, GA and sister: Helen Mills of Statesboro, GA.
