Obituary

WORCESTER-John J. Kapish, 86, of Worcester, a caring father, WWII veteran, founder and owner of Kapp Sign and Crane Service. He passed away on Sunday, April 18th in St. Vincent Hospital-Worcester Medical Center after an illness.

He leaves behind his family: daughter, Susene G. Hansen of Worcester, a granddaughter, Kimberlee Hansen Kaufman, wife of Jeff Kaufman of Upton; daughter, Pamela J. Sweeney of Worcester and her two children; several close veteran friends.He was born in Worcester, the son of John and Anna (Pecevicz) Kapish. He was a Navy veteran of WWII serving with the Seabees in the South Pacific and Guadal Canal. He pursued a career building dry docks on the East Coast before going into the sign business. Mr. Kapish founded Kapp Sign and Crane Service on West Boylston Street where he employed both of his late brothers, Anthony and Stephen Kapish. He was a skilled tradesman, yachtsman out of Dover, NH and a member of American Legion Post 205, Rochdale.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 23rd at 10:00 AM in Hope Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to the Massachusetts Veteran’s Shelter, 69 Grove Street, Worcester, MA 01605. O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue is directing the arrangements.
