Janette (Bangs ) Simmons – O’Hara, a former resident of Stoughton, Hyde Park and Needham and wife of the late William “ Gus “ Simmons passed away in Brockton on Sunday April 22, 2012. She was 90 years old. She is survived by her children, William “ Bill” Simmons of Middleborough and Paul E. Simmons of Santa Rosa, California. Other survivors include her grandchildren, Jamie Simmons of New Bedford, Anne and Samuel Simmons both of California, her great- grandson Brennan Simmons of New Bedford, her sister Eleanor Carpenter of Texas,1 niece and 1 nephew.
Born May 23, 1921 in Charlestown, Massachusetts Janette was a loving daughter to the late Paul P. and Mary ( Lumsden) Bangs. She attended Boston Public Schools and was a graduate of Hyde Park High School. She later attended and earned her diploma from the former Fay Business School in Boston.Janette was employed as a Secretary by the Hazeltine Corporation in Braintree,MA for over 23 years.
Janette was a member and attended The First Congregational Church of Stoughton. She was also a member of The Stoughton Women’s Club and enjoyed ceramics and sewing. She was also a former Sunday School Teacher at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Stoughton and was a former member of their Altar Guild.
Her funeral service will be held on Saturday April 28, 2012 at 10 am from the Sheehan, Lowe & Powers Funeral Home, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton. The Rev. John Baillie officiating. A Visiting hour will be held prior to the service from 9AM – 10 AM. All are welcome to attend. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. In lieu of flowers, donations to The First Congregational Church of Stoughton, 76 Pierce Street, Stoughton,MA 02072 in Janette’s memory, would be appreciated.
