Edmund Gerard Finn, 79, died on Saturday, April 21 at home with his family members at his side.
Ted was a lifelong resident of Hull. Born March 31, 1933 Ted attended Hull schools and graduated from Hingham High where he excelled in baseball and football. He still holds pitching records in American Legion baseball to this day. A strong-armed, fastballing right hander he also pitched his Ruislip Air Base team, in England, to two European championships in 1952-53 while serving there with the US Air Force during the Korean conflict. He also played for the London Rockets semi-professional baseball team, as well as the Baltimore Orioles farm system.
Ted was a well-known figure in his home town. He had many friends due to his friendly nature and great sense of humor. He worked in a number of capacities, primarily self-employed, during his many years in Hull after his return from the service.
Ted was born to Anna and Lawrence Finn in 1933. He is survived by his daughters Laurie Finn Donnelly [John]; Teri Finn Damato, sons Danny and John; brothers Larry and Jack [Margo] and sister Dolores {Finn} Johnson, 10 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and lifelong friends. He was the father of the late Wendy Finn Wilkinson. Despite many adversities, he was known as a battler to the very end. The one thing he never lost was the love for his children and grandchildren and their love for him. God love you, Ted, we'll miss you!
A calling hour is scheduled for Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 5:00 p.m. at Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.) in HINGHAM.
