Obituary

WEBSTER – Francis P. “Frank” Lorkiewicz, 80, of Webster, passed away Sunday,
April 22, 2012 at Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester, surrounded by his family.
He leaves his beloved wife of 55 years, Caroline L. (Kalinowski) Lorkiewicz; 3 daughters, Darlene M. Nulk and her husband Gregory of Lee, NH, Nancy L. Bedard and her husband Michael of Francestown, NH, and Christine F. Lorkiewicz of Thompson, CT; 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; a sister, Theresa Piotrowski of Uxbridge; nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Joseph, William and Theodore and by 2 sisters, Rose and Sophie.
He was born in Webster, the youngest of the 7 children of Frank and Stasia (Sterczala) Lorkiewicz, and was a lifelong resident. He graduated from Bartlett High School in 1950, where he played on the varsity football, basketball and baseball teams. He earned an Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering from Worcester Junior College.
He was a United States Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Lorkiewicz was an electrician and then foreman for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 96 in Worcester. He was sent all over the world to supervise various construction projects.
He was a member of Saint Joseph Basilica. He belonged to the Marine Corps League before it disbanded. A jack of all trades and master of several, he built his own home. He also constructed 3 other houses and did renovations. He took special pride in landscaping and tending to his yard. He raised and raced pigeons for many years and possessed a special fondness for birds and all animals. He was a fan of the New England Patriots, the Boston Red Sox and the Boston Celtics.
The funeral will be held Thursday, April 26, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street. After cremation, burial will be in Bourne National Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 6:00 to 9:00 PM Wednesday, April 25, in the funeral home. Donations in his name may be made to either St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, to the Shriner’s Hospital, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114 or to Saint Joseph School, 53 Whitcomb Street, Webster, MA 01570.
