Estes, Alan Saunders, 79, of Plymouth, died at the McCarthy Care Center in Sandwich on April 20th. Alan was the husband of the late Carole (Pfistner) Estes (who passed in January). Alan leaves his sons Scott Estes of Plymouth, Stephen Estes and his wife Karyn of Plymouth, his daughters Susan Richards and her husband Michael of Brockton, Lisa Lizotte and her husband Michael of E. Freetown, Heather Langiano of E. Freetown, and Amanda Westgate and her companion Jeff of New Bedford. He also leaves his brother Richard Estes of Lakewood CO, his sister Linda Crosby and her husband John of Pembroke, and 11 cherished grandchildren.
Alan was born in Brockton, the son of Kendall and Eleanor Estes. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and worked as a Quality Control Manager for Ocean Spray Cranberries. Alan was a member of the Old Colony Club in Plymouth and the Elks in Middleboro.
Alan loved his family and the opportunity to command their undivided attention at family functions with “quick stories”. He was a New England sports fan particularly of the Bruins. He also coached youth hockey both boys and girls and was a sports memorabilia collector.
Visiting hours will be held at the Richard Davis Funeral Home - 619 State Road (Rte 3A) Plymouth (Manomet) on Wednesday April 25 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday April 26 at 11:30 AM with burial at the Massachusetts National Cemetery - Bourne, MA at 1:45 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Hospice of Cape Cod, 265 Attucks Lane, Hyannis, MA 02601, the American Diabetes Association, 1 Bromfield St., 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02108 or the Alzheimers Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
