Obituary

Margaret Larkin (Young) Tedford, 83, of Pawcatuck, died Sunday at Westerly Hospital.

She was born in Pawcatuck on August 7, 1920, to the late Mary Jane (Clark) Larkin and Samuel Edward Larkin. She graduated from Stonington High School in 1939.

She was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church in Pawcatuck, and a longtim former communicant of St. Patrick Church, Mystic.

Mrs. Tedford worked for C.B. Cottrells as a machinist during World War II. Later she worked for Conn. Cab Co., where she was President of the International Association of Machinist Union –Local 1913. She quit Conn. Cab to join Kellems Co. of Stonington, where she worked until retirement in 1982.

She is survived by her husband, Henry Tedford; 5 children, Cecelia Burbine, Rose Mathias, Rowena DeMary, Herbert Young and Teresa Amaral., 20 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 9 step children, and several step grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her son, Robert Edward Young in 1998, a grandson, Herbert Donald Young II in 1994, and her brother, Edward Larkin.

Her family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Wednesday from 6-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick Church, Mystic on Thursday at 10am. Burial in Elm Grove Cemetery.
