SANDWICH: Francis X. Kilduff, 87, died Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at the Carlyle House in Framingham following a period of declining health.
He was born in Boston on April 9, 1925 the son of the late John J. and Anna A. (Flaherty) Kilduff.
He was the beloved husband for 62 years of the late Marie A. (Barry) Kilduff who died on May 12, 2009.
Devoted father of Ellen M. Poluzzi and her husband Robert J. Poluzzi of Marlborough; Richard F. Kilduff and his wife Robin L. Kilduff of Framingham and Scott M. Kilduff and his wife Cynthia A. Kilduff of Framingham. Loving grandfather of Adam J. Poluzzi of Boston; Jena M. Poluzzi of Worcester; Kelsey R. Kilduff of Framingham and Scott M. Kilduff of Framingham. He was the brother of Robert Kilduff and his wife Joan Kilduff of Sandwich and Claire Dunklee of Rockland and also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Francis spent his formative years in Boston and graduated from Boston Technical School and attended Bentley College. He has been a resident of Sandwich for over 25 years and previously resided in Wayland for 30 years. He served his country proudly on the U.S.S. Redfish during World War II in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre and the American Theatre and received a Bronze Star for his services. He had a long career with the United States Postal Service and began as a mail carrier in Wellesley Hills and served as the Postmaster in Acton, Norwood and retired from the Framingham Post Office. He enjoyed woodworking, golfing, winemaking, playing cards, especially bridge, with his family and friends. He was an active communicant of Corpus Christi Parish in Sandwich and was a member of the Lions Club, the Knights of Columbus and the Rotary Club of Sandwich. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
At the request of his family there will be no funeral home visitations. A Memorial Mass celebrating his life will be held on Monday, April 30, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Corpus Christi Parish, 324 Quaker Meetinghouse Road, Sandwich.
Private family interment will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
