Eleanor L. Vega, 76, of Derry, NH formerly of Lawrence, MA, died on Tuesday April 17, 2012 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA. She was born in Lawrence MA on July 11, 1935, a daughter of Lena (Mazzelli) White and Joseph White. She was raised and educated in Lawrence and was a graduate of Lynn English High School, Lynn, MA. She was a resident of Derry for nearly 30 years. She worked for many years as a data entry operator with NHHEAF and IRS. Eleanor loved helping others, Bingo, the ocean and taking long drives. She was a very active volunteer in the NH Youth Football and Spirit Conference helping where ever needed. She loved spending time with her family and will forever be remembered as a warm, loving remarkable mother, grandmother, friend and individual. Eleanor was the last of her lineage. She was predeceased by her mother, Lena, 3 brothers, William, Alfred and Joseph and 4 sisters, Lucy, Mary, Rita, Gloria.
She leaves behind her son Butch Abbott and his girlfriend Julie Head of Tewksbury, MA; her daughter Deborah Smith and her husband Kelly of Derry, NH; and 3 grandchildren, Amanda Abbott, Casey Smith, Kiel Abbott as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorial visiting hours were held Sunday, April 29, 2012 from 1:00 to 3:30pm with a prayer service beginning at 3:30pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry. Friends joined with the family at the Halcyon Club, 11 Central Street, Derry following the services to continue celebrating Eleanor’s life. Burial will be at a later date in St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence, MA.
