Denise Marie Harris, 53, of Throop, died Wednesday in VNA Hospice at Geisinger Community Medical Center after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Her husband is Gary Anderson.
Born May 12, 1958, in Scranton, daughter of Robert W. Sr. and Joan E. Cuthbertson Pollish of Peckville, Denise was a graduate of Valley View High School, class of 1976, and received her cosmetology license in Hawaii. She was a hairstylist for 27 years and owner of Styl-N-Stylz hair salon in Olyphant.
She took pride in doing hair and loved all of "her ladies," especially her elderly clients in the Olyphant high-rise. The family would like to thank Drs. William Heim and Michael Burke and their staff. Special thanks are also extended to Drs. Eric Blomain and Michael Alocci, their staff, and the entire staff at VNA Hospice of Lackawanna County for providing Denise with comfort and dignity throughout her final days.
Also surviving are a daughter, Nicole Lynn Walker, Throop; a brother, Robert W. Pollish Jr., Carbondale; a sister, Michelle Lynn Pollish Anderson, Archbald; four nephews, Paul, Michael, Bobby and Cameron; and a niece, Justine.
Denise was also preceded in death by a sister, Deborah Joan Pollish Tyrrell.
The funeral will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. in the Michael P. Glinsky Funeral Home Inc., 129 Grant St., Olyphant, with the Rev. Virginia Minor officiating.
Friends may call Sunday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
