Obituary

Marjorie (Dore) Bertram, 80, of Mattapoisett died April 18, 2004 peacefully at home after a long illness.

She was the wife of Samuel D. Bertram and daughter of Grace (Wordell) Dore of Reston, VA and the late Stanley M. Dore.

Mrs. Bertram was born in Providence, RI, raised in Dedham and lived in New Bedford before moving to Mattapoisett in 1950. She and her husband retired to Holiday, Florida in 1978 and summered in Mattapoisett and Barnstable.

She was a member of the Mattapoisett Congregational Church.

She was formerly employed as a sixth grade teacher at Mattapoisett Center School and Old Hamondtown School for several years. She attended Dedham High School and graduated from Brown University in 1944 working as a bacteriologist at the Deaconess Hospital in Boston after graduation.

Mrs. Bertram loved volunteering her time for tutoring children, enjoyed quilt making and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years; her mother; 3 daughters, Catherine Bertram, and her husband James Crabtree, of Marion, Carol Lee Eckblom, and her husband Jay, of Braintree and Christine Bertram of Mattapoisett; 3 grandchildren, Christian Bertram and Michael Bertram, both of Mattapoisett and Katerina Eckblom of Braintree.

She was the sister of the late Stanley M. Dore, Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6), Mattapoisett, Wednesday, April 21st from 4 to 8 PM.

Her private graveside service will be held in Cushing Cemetery.
