Daniel "Joe" O'Connor, Jr., 89, a resident of North Andover, MA., passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at the Academy Manor Nursing Home in Andover, MA. surrounded by his family.
Born in Lawrence, MA, Daniel was a graduate of both St. Laurence O'Toole Grammar School and Central Catholic High School in Lawrence. He went on to attend the McIntosh Business School. He had worked at Western Electric for some 32 years as an Engineering Assistant. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers as well as a member of the Telephone Communications of America. Daniel was a parishioner of St. Michael's Church in North Andover where he was involved with the Adoration Society. He loved tending to his vegetable garden as well as spending time with his grandchildren.
Daniel is survived by his loving wife of 55 years: Dorothy A. (Donovan) O'Connor, as well as 2 daughters: Elizabeth wife of Timothy Grady of North Andover, MA, and Eileen wife of Alexander Fawcett of Dracut, MA. sons: Daniel and his wife Cheryl of South Lawrence, MA, and William O'Connor of Methuen, MA. He is also survived by a sister: Kathleen Gordon of Norwell, MA, as well as his 11 grandchildren: Caitlin McLaughlin, Timothy McLaughlin, Cara Grady, Meghan Fawcett, Michaela Fawcett, Robert O'Connor, Ashley O'Connor, Emily O'Connor, Kayla O'Connor, Justin O'Connor, and Matthew O'Connor. Daniel was also brother to the late Francis O'Connor, Johanna O'Connor, Maureen McCarthy, and Henry O'Connor. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at the Academy Manor Nursing Home for the kind and loving attention given to Daniel.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. in St. Michael's Church in North Andover, MA. Burial will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery, also in North Andover, MA. Family and friends may call on Friday, April 20, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 35 Merrimack St., North Andover, MA.
