Obituary

Anne M. "Auntie" (Connolly) Lyons, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, passed into eternal life on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at her home in Charlestown after a lengthy illness. She was 88 years old.

Anne was born in Boston and grew up in Charlestown where she attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1941. Anne worked in the Boston Naval Shipyard as a welder during World War II and then went on to work for First National Stores and Stop & Shop Stores and retired after 30 years of service.

Anne is the beloved wife of the late Edward I. "Whamo" Lyons. She is the devoted sister of James Connolly of Templeton, Frank Connolly of Wisconsin and the late Helen Keigney, Mary Mellen, Gertrude Connolly, Margaret McCormick, Rita Donovan, Catherine Connolly, Joseph Connolly and Jack Connolly. She is the loving aunt of Ann Crilley of Charlestown and many other nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Anne's Funeral on Friday, April 20, 2012 at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Interment at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, April 19, 2012 from 2 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
