Obituary

Mrs. Minerva H. Rivers, 87, of Hampstead, NH, beloved wife of the late Marland L. Rivers, died Monday, April 16, 2012 after a short illness, at the Exeter Hospital with her family at her side. She was born in Haverhill, MA, a daughter of the late Edna J. (Cheney) Fuller and James R. Fuller. Minerva was raised in Danville, NH, and was a graduate of Sanborn Seminary in Kingston, NH. She also graduated from the NH State Hospital School of Nursing in Concord, NH, and the Orange Memorial Hospital in Orange, NJ. Minerva worked as a neo-natal nurse at the Hale Hospital until retirement, and then continued to work as a private duty nurse.
She was a member of the Danville Grange, and the Danville Baptist Church in Danville. Minerva was an avid knitter, and many family members enjoyed winter hats, gloves, sweaters and blankets. She also knitted hats and blankets for veteran’s organizations and various hospitals. Minerva also enjoyed many a yard sale, and sold her knitted items at craft fairs. She lived a very remarkable life, and left a sweet and loving impression on everyone she met.
Minerva is survived by her son, Darryl A. Rivers of Salem, NH; and her daughter, Anita D. Rivers of Salem, MA. She was predeceased by her son, Eric L. Rivers and her aunt, Bertha M. Cheney.
Calling hours were held on Monday, April 23rd from 12 – 2pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry, NH. A funeral service followed at 2:00pm in the funeral home. The burial followed in the Centre Cemetery in Danville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hampstead Fire & Rescue, 17 Littles Lane, Hampstead, NH 03841.
