Sarah Ann “Peggy” Houston, age 61, died April 17, 2012 at her home in Water Valley, MS. She was born in Yalobusha County on January 12, 1951 and was a member of Union Hill CME Church. Employed by Baptist Hospital in Oxford as a housekeeper, she took pleasure in her work, enjoyed dancing, and loved to have fun.
Funeral services are planned for 1 PM Monday, April 23, 2012 at the City Auditorium in Water Valley, MS. Visitation will be from 12 noon until service time. Reverend Cleveland Alexander will officiate the services, and burial will take place in the Union Hill Cemetery in Yalobusha County. Pallbearers will be Jerry Telford, Hugh Caldwell, Durtaveus Hervey, Gregory Buck, Frederick Campbell, and John E. Jones. Honorary pallbearers include Derrick Pomerlee, Calvin Caldwell, Johnny Morgan, Geraldo Roberson, Jarvis Roberson, and Johnny C. Hervey. Seven Oaks Funeral Home of Water Valley is entrusted with professional services and arrangements.
Peggy is survived by her mother, Clister Hervey of Water Valley, MS; three daughters, Geneva Hervey, Annie Hervey, and Cassie (Chris) Houston, all of Water Valley, MS and Tecreesha Alexander, who was like a daughter to her; three sons, Golden (Mary) Hervey, Johnny Hervey, and Michael Houston, all of Water Valley; ten sisters, Sandra (Levo) Harris, Bennie Fay Woodard, Shirley (Joe) Pomerlee, Rosie Morgan, Eve (Sherman) Harris, and Mary Ann (Stan) Pomerlee, all of Water Valley, MS, and Betty (Brian) Daniels of Southaven, MS, Eunice Henderson of Batesville, MS, and Virgie Mae (Fred) Hamilton of Batesville, MS; two brothers, James (Mae) Houston and Robert Houston, both of Memphis, TN; a special aunt, Gracie Mae Hervey of Water Valley, MS, fourteen grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Hervey, and two brothers, John Eddie Caldwell and Willie Buck.
